HOOLE AIRMAN PRESUMED KILLED

Official notification has been received that Ft/Sgt John Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Thompson, of 33 Lime Grove, Hoole, who was reported missing on March 8th 1945, must now be presumed killed on that date. Ft/Sgt Thompson, who was aged 22, enlisted in the R.A.F. in September 1941, and received his training in America and Canada. As a bomb-aimer he made 25 operational flights. He was educated at Victoria Street School and Chester College School being apprenticed to Messrs. Wm Vernon and Sons, Upper Northgate Street as a joiner. Ft/Sgt Thompson was engaged to Miss Helen Clark, youngest daughter Mr and Mrs Clark, Upton Heath and was the grandson of the late Mr and Mrs McKay of Upper Northgate Street, where he was born.
